Back on the Ring, the road began to ascend and I stopped at a roadside viewpoint. There were many other tourists there; I managed to keep them out of the frame when I got my turn.
Panning clockwise. The two islands are Deenish and Scanff. Further out, rocky, much smaller and possibly the small bumps on the horizon in the shot of the bay are the
Skellig Islands, one of which has an early Christian monastery. Both are bird sanctuaries. Some people take tours, but you have to be physically fit to climb the steps, and there are no toilets at the top.
