The Dingle Peninsula has the westernmost point of the main island and you can see the Atlantic Ocean in the distance. As the place marker indicates, I'm near Dun Chaoin/Dunquin Pier.
However as roadside parking was all occupied, I was not able to park and walk to the pier and had to content myself with these shots.
Island off the coast.
Might be Inishtooskert and the other is unnamed, at least in Maps. Green right up to the edge.
A couple of panoramas:
This is probably the western edge of Ireland. A pub in a nearby village advertised itself as the westernmost pub in Europe.
On the way back to Dingle I overshot the turnoff to the town and ended up on the southern edge of the peninsula. It was rather scary driving through rain on narrow roads and the occasional oncoming car. I couldn't even get mobile reception to confirm where I was with GPS. But I managed to turn around and go through Dingle to my B&B on the edge of town. The Lidl supermarket had an intriguing product, Guinness flavoured dark chocolate. I thought it was quite good, but it may offend beer purists.
